Can't select the single points

In this picture, I tap into edit mode and I want to select the cube’s single points, but wherever I click, this stuff(surrounding by the red circle, I don’t know what’s its name.)would follow, so I can’t select these single points

By default, select with RMB with LMB used to position the 3d cursor

on bottom header set to verts only then you can select only one point or more!
