Car Indicator Glass

Can someone help me out with a glass shader for an orange car indicator please, mine looks terrible.

can you show some pictures so we can help you !

happy bl

Looks fine to me

Coloured refraction node roughness 0
White glossy mode roughness 0

Mix shader :
Factor: frenel
1st: Refraction
2nd: Glossy

Indicators have a lumpy grid on the inside. You can do this with mesh or with a normal/bumpmap, or into displacement.

Sure…

In fact Yogyog’s idea worked nicely.

The key is even though the glass is orange it reflects white.

You might also want to handle shadows. Refraction is not “transparent” and will require refractive caustics to kinda work (with tons of samples). Search forum for how to do it, it’s been discussed to death.

Glass shader should have a note/tooltip on it how to properly deal with colored glass and shadows. It occur that frequently.

OK, so that’s the refraction node? I really need to improve my node work, I’ve been focusing on modelling a lot, because it’s fun, nodes require, you know, thinking.

You know any good node tutorials, I know there are plenty on Youtube, just if you have one you liked particularly.

So far as I can make out, the glass node is basically a combination of the refraction node - which refracts light … you know how a magnifying lens distorts the image you see through it? that’s refraction. And I guess you know what reflection is: that the glossy node.
