Car modelling technique

Hi all,

I’m itching to make a decent car model. I’m no newbie, but when it comes to cars I have quite a few failed attempts. I’d like to know if anyone has a good, proven technique that they’d like to share. I’ve looked at a couple of tutorials for other apps, but nothing Blender specific. Maybe someone has a link to a Blender tutorial for such a thing?

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,

Cool, that’s a pretty decent one - thanks. Although I was hoping for something with a more complex model. Anyone else?

Why don’t people just stop modeling cars and instead download one of the 100.000 car models available?

in news and chat i made a model repository. there are currently 3 vehicles, all made with blender. maybe you could get some ideas from studying the meshes.

There used to be a tutorial about modelling a car using nurbs. I’m not sure where it went, or whose it was, so maybe ask around.

Blenderman has several articles on modeling cars. http://www.blenderman.org/index.php
Just click on articles and check them out.

Some suggestion.

Get the best blueprints and or scale drawings you can find.
If you got a camera go take pictures of the car.
If you don’t mind spending a little cash then go to
a hobby shop or order online the car model your interested in.
A plastic model makes for a great reference.
