Car Rigging Questions

Hello! I’m new to the forums (this is my first post) so forgive me if this is in the wrong place…

I am making a game for a competition in May. I use Blender 2.49 last release. I need to have a bus drive on roads, collect things, etc. I modeled a bus with tires, textures, etc. I got the bus to move, but it’s just sliding, no physics, etc. It just looks like it’s driving.

I would like the tires to actually “drive” the bus along the surface. I would also like to steer the bus by turning the front wheels to the left or right.

Does anybody know how to go about this? Body parented to tires? Tires parented to body? Do I have to use python? Can I use bones? I have no idea how to go about this.

Does anyone know of any good tutorials? Examples? I am OK at blender as far as modeling, but have no idea how to rig things for use in games.

Thanks so much in advance.

you will need to use python, link for a tutorial- http://tutorialsforblender3d.com

Prof. Monster provided an excellent tutorial on that as well, please use the search tool or go to the resources subforum to find it. I think that one is better!

Thanks so much! I can’t tell you how much this helped. So much frustration and all I had to do was ask! Thanks again guys.

I am following your tutorial. (great tut by the way) and I get to the engine tutorial, do all of that, and where you say to test, you say it must be on initial state, etc. and I do that. It says in ur tut, so the car just sits there and swings on suspension…

in mine, the car just drops onto the plane. The wheels drop about halfway through until the bottom of my bus hits the plane and then the whole thing stops. What can I do to fix this?
