This is a car im working on C&C pls
Well… at least the background is not the standard “blender-blue” thing. 
Now seriously… it depends on what your trying to make - if its a toy car, your going pretty good way. If your going for photorealism, then you are doing it completely wrong. 
thanks for the C&C i dont think i have the skill for photorealism, what im trying to do is make an animation with the car and a few others racing around a track if anyone could point me torwards some good tuts on cars and tracks i would be grateful
