This is one of my entries for Exposè:

Modelled in Wings, textured and rendered in Blender (2.23) of course!
Comments are welcome.

First impression: Nice.

Second impression: Too much stuff in the background, those three objects (planet, nebula, planet) look too much rowed up. I think i’d delete one of them (probably the one to the right) and move the nebula to there. Not sure, though, but worth a try.

Third impression: What exactly is that thing?? =)) It looks a little too much like…extruded, extruded, extruded. But not awfull at all and surely better than i can do up to now. Those wired satelites add a lot.

hmm, it is rather cluttered, even the central model, where the top two tubes overlap is rather confusing, theres not much edge definition

it’s impressive, but chaotic. those little lights coming from all those millions of little windows seem too bright… and … hmm. well, I can’t “grab” it  perhaps more dramatic lighting could help bring out the model?

.b

Ditto to that.

Definitley tone down the emit on the windows.

Thanks for your feedback.

Thank you.

Yes, it worth a try; anyway, I was looking for a caotic look.

You are right, actually that is what it is! Yes, I agree with you; my intention was to build a modular spaceship, maybe it has gone a little too much modular.

Damn… bad textures, my fault.

it’s impressive, but chaotic.

As I said before…

those little lights coming from all those millions of little windows seem too bright…

mm… really? Honestly, it doesn’t seems to me…

and … hmm. well, I can’t “grab” it perhaps more dramatic lighting could help bring out the model?

Sure, the model has been build and textured under a different light condition (really much better). But when I took it to the scene, I had to change the light direction to match the environment, so many effects and detail got lost… I should have had more time to work on it. My fault again.

Env

Very nice…

doesn’t look to crowded to me…

Stefano

It is a bit cluttered, but would probably look GREAT on a REALLy big screen: Imax or a planetarium or something. this little window on my monitor cannot do it any justice.

well, the scene itself is not very dark (it’s like daytime), yet, there is lot of light coming from windowes, just like it would be night time. just seems strange to me. but… I’m not spaceship expert. heh. perhaps they are like that in huge ships like that in a daytimespace like that… heh…

Hey Basse, don’t know why but I missed your last post till now…
Well, actually, from your point of view, what you say about windows is correct… but I supposed that in space you have to light inner of rooms, because if you make an extrasolar system travel you will not be able to use the sun light for a very very long time.
Maybe I’m wrong.

Env

nice stuff env!

I love space scenery, I am huge sci-fi fan :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you ztonzy.
Me too!

Env

k000000l [!] [!] :o

yes, is crowded, I think it will look better if only 3 ships were connected and little more distance, including the one in the background. The lights, don’t look like lights and the rusty line textures in the front, don’t look naterial. I suppose the planets could be a little further away, as for everything else, great.

Ehm… there are only two ships in the image (besides the probes).

The lights, don’t look like lights

You mean the windows?

and the rusty line textures in the front, don’t look naterial.

Rusty? They are not.

I suppose the planets could be a little further away, as for everything else, great.

Thank you.

Env, I like this piece, it’s very good.

However these two little ships should replace the larger ones IMHO. These two little beauties are superb, they look so detailed but are minor parts of the scene:-

These are really cool, I hope you didn’t mind my enlarging them a bit.

Sonix.

Okay, I must admit: nobody seems to like the design of the bigger modular ships!

No problem at all. Actually they are really simple models, the most of the details are faked by the texture (the same textures as for the bigger ships).

Env

Yes, I mean the windows, I know there’s only two ships but theres like 10 stations/bridge on each one. I don’t really see that many connected, in sci fi or space image.
