Carl Sagan's Space Science Lectures from 1977, remastered

These videos are 6 recorded christmas lectures at the RI Royal Institute
in London for children, but not childish. These lectures are
from 1977, so you can see how far science has come since then.

The Video Lectures are:
The Earth as a Planet
The outer solar system and life
The history of Mars
Mars before Viking
Mars after Viking
Planets beyond our sun

Carl Sagan was an american astronomer and cosmologist and science communicator.

At Sagan’s suggestion, the Voyager 1 space probe was rotated 180 degrees
and took a picture of our solar system in February 1990 from a distance
of about 6 to 7 billion kilometers. Where the Earth appears as a “pale blue dot”

He had also the idea to attach a peaceful message from humanity to a spaceship.
He realized this message with the Pioneer plaque on the two interstellar space probes Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11 and the gold-plated Voyager Golden Record data plate on
the space probes Voyager 1 and Voyager 2.

Here the Link to the Lectures

He was not is.
Unfortunately Carl died at 62 years old, he would have been 90 this year.

I remember watching a TV series he did when I was a kid “Cosmos”, it was really fascinating and well presented.

…He was not is…
Corrected it. Thank you for bringing it to my attention

I first became aware of Carl Sagan’s work through the “Pale Blue Dot” story.
Watching the video lectures I found it interesting to see how much the possibilities of space exploration and scientific presentations have developed in the meantime. I think he would have enjoyed that.
