Hey i think it looks prety cool. Goodjob!
makehuman model ?
the material/shader looks too flat…need more wörk LOL
Looks pretty cool. The flatness Stonzy talked about may be able to be fixed by increasing the contrast between the light and dark areas. Just an idea. But I like the over all look of the shadows.
Paradox
forget the flatness… this is truely sweet! most toon shade artist out there use too much shading and by doing so lose the illusion of CELL SHADING in the first place. this IMO is perfect!
Thanks all!
ztonzy: Yes, it´s a MakeHuman model.
I´m gone work on it!
Nooo !!
that way makes it toony, look at the comics on tv !!
i have and adding more shading makes the character too 3d thus defeating the purpose.
how, how …HOW?!
the most “real” CELL SHADING made with Blender. Shadows seems okay.
im working on an animation project where some of the environments are 3d i was wondering what settings you used to achieve the “cel-shaded” look
all i keep getting is the soft shadows not the two tone
Is this intended for some particular version of Blender? If I hit ‘render’ in 2.27, it just gives me a very dark, normally shaded looking human, somewhat backlit, with heavy black lines around him. Cerainly nowhere near what you have in your example picture.

I forgot to say, I used the last Tuhopuu version.
It would be cool to see the technique that I used in a animation project.
I am perfecting the technique and studying Manga.
So am I. So you used Tuhopuu’s toon shading material, huh? I havent been able to get a nice result like that…I’ll look into it too. Although Blender’s edge drawing needs some work (I’m not saying this because of your work).
Just a question – slightly unrelated, but what is the difference between Cell Shading and Toon Shading? I always wondered, as all my games mags say ‘Cell Shading’, whereas most people here say ‘Toon Shading’.

Yes. Its a very cool feature.

I agree. Take a look on the finalToon:

Sure, its a pay product, but would be nice to see some that features in Blender.
Me likes it, took me a while to get the right settings for 2-colored toon shading (yah, i am not used to terms like “diffused”). But, this is looking real nice.
BTW: finalToon is awesome, i love it!
