I am trying to cast caustics from within the control panel of Yable but although I have accomplished every needed regulation -at least, so it seems to me- the render which comes out is a black screen. What is happening? Am I neglecting something? And, really, this ‘select target’ button that exists in the light regulating module of Yable what is it standing, exactly, for? Is it for selecting the object which we want to cast the caustics?

What regulations exactly? And by black screen you mean that your render is a plain black image?
For caustics you must do the following:
Set up your scene.
Make at least (2) lights.
Assign one as a Photon Light. I dont know much about tweaking these lights but you can read up on that at yafray.org (And yes, the setTarget button is to set the object that the photons are to pass through (I think :)))
Assign the other light to be a point light. This is to actually light the scene. A photon light will not light a scene by itself.
now if you render, you should get the results you want.
If I screwed anything up, hopefully someone will correct me. I havent done many tests with photons and caustics.
Hope that helps any ways…
