Here’s something I’ve been working on for the past couple weeks or so, a medieval style castle scene. Apophysis was used to make the sky nebula texture, fire sim was used for the flame textures.
A little bit of post editing in Paint.net and Krita.
Thanks for looking, C&C welcome and appreciated.
This is a really cool image, yg3D! The combination of vivid and complimentary colors, the ultra wide camera lens and the subject itself make for a very dynamic and epic shot. It is interesting that our eyes seem to start at the bottom of the frame, instead of the top, and as we take in the image, the castle walls lead out eyes up, right to the moon.
A very good image, with lots of fine details as well. This should absolutely have more views! Great job, yg3D!
Thank you very much! I was starting to think this wasn’t going to get any comments, appreciate it very much!
The texture mapping and lighting seems well done, I also can’t help but to notice the strong appeal that the style gives for the image, it’s kind-of quasi-realistic, but it isn’t.
The only critiques I have is that the castle seems abandoned despite the entrance being lit up and it seems like the stone/brick texture is over-used and you could’ve used a greater variety of them, but it really does feel like a true action shot.
Okay, thank you! Thanks for your comment.
I think the combination of vivid colours and the ultra wide lens work well together.
Thanks, I appreciate your comment.
I think part of the reason it has been difficult to get replies has to do with the aspect ratio of the image. As you’ve probably noticed, all the image thumbnails get resized to be the same width on the main forum pages. Of course this means a landscape orientation image will be scaled down much more than a portrait orientation one. If possible, you might consider a way to get around this (such as uploading a cropped image, as well as your original image), but it’s just something to keep in mind. It’s easy to miss a great image when it’s much smaller than it’s surrounding images.
I noticed the ratio to scale thing but hadn’t thought of the thumbnail idea, thanks!
(BTW, how to i select the thumbnail as the preview image?)
If I remember correctly, it will use whatever is the first image in your original post. And I don’t think it can be an attached thumbnail, but may need to appear in the post the same way your full image currently does. I think what you can do is click on “Go Advanced” under the text input window, and click “manage your attachments” to have more control over the order of the images. This also helps you if you want to place an image that you’ve previously uploaded, saving you from uploading it again. I hope this helps!
