Castle in the Sky

Inspiration from my favorite filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

Modeling, lighting and rendering in Blender. Clouds could probably have been photo bashed, but I created and rendered them in Houdini to learn the software, and composed them into the Blender render in post.

Music: Semolina by Slow Meadow.

The animation looks great.

Nice and peaceful. Beautiful colors too ! :+1:

Thanks!
I spent a lot of time on that one, modeling from scratch, so that’s encouraging

Very nice work, cool image and really nice flyby animation too.

Thank you RTB!

Beautiful scene.

Nice work… but your Artstation link is broken.

You’re on the #featured row! :+1:

How do you do so many clouds? Are some of them images, or are they all volumes?

Nice work by the way. So many details. I think the blimp is my favorite part.

Looked it up for ya fam

Thanks everyone for your messages, and @bartv for featuring my work :grinning:

@alekba & @MagnussonProductions thanks for noting the broken link. I’m indeed updating my web presence, using from now my real name instead of a pseudonyme, and Artstation link changed indeed.

@Charles_Weaver Yes, clouds are volumes. I rendered only 1 frame and then animated it with a warp tool in compositing, as rendering a sequence would have taken ages on my computer.
Honestly, this wasn’t the best workflow for this image. I did it only because I wanted to learn more about the volume rendering techniques, but normally for an image like this, I believe that photobashing the clouds in post would be better and faster.

Thanks but again get 404 error. Strange.

:star_struck: wow beautiful

That was awesome! I didn’t expect something coming from behind. It looks great.

Thanks again guys
