Cat Girl... yeah Here too...

Okay by know its been way to long in the making and I was hopeing to get her done finaly once and for all so i can move onto the other characters…

My last topic post over in the WIP forum has some great shots of the wire of her body for those interested…
https://blenderartists.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=45969

Now I am posting her here now because I need harshly honest advice on everything from the modeling to the texturing [rigging at a later time]…

so here is where I am at now…

The pants are still being modeled I am kinda undecided whether to make them long pants or shorts…

so there she is… now go and find everything you can wrong with her and lemme know…

Alright…

Pretty cool, but…

…It’s also pretty apparent that it needs Anatomy detailing.
The thing that hits me with this model is it’s actually pretty good but lack
the muscle groups.

One might argue that a female or a thin/skinny character doesn’t have protuding
muscle groups and such…but the truth is …even a child has muscles and the
general anatomy for all creatures (humans included) have some sort of generalized
anatomy featuring bones and muscle groups.

You might want to take a look at the following resources for further studies:

http://www.fineart.sk/

This is an incredible site where you can find literally anything you need for further
studies, artists all over has been using it for years.

Take a look…do some serious detailing and enhance your cool character further!

Basic model is very well done as far as the body shape, clothing, etc.

The ears look very plain and lack a lot of detail Have you thought of adding in some knife cuts and improving the detail there?

Also, what JoOngle said is very true. Add some definition to the body to make her stand out a bit more and not look so much like a plastic doll.

Looking forward to updates.

The ears need more detail like cuttings.I don’t like the mouth very much. The Face needs some wrinkles in order to look more realistic. Also I think that she needs a fur

just a small almost pointless update… worked a little on the ears… not too much cause most of that detail is gonna be covered up by fur and hair when i get that far… i tried giving her some muscle tone… not much but it is there… more updats by the end of the week…

i think just to speed up the modeling time i am gonna give her shorts… still havent figured what i’m gonna do about foot wear if any… sugestions are welcome…

Well, I think shorts would suit the character better, but if anything you’ll only make it harder for yourself since you’ll have to worry about leg muscles, and then adding fur to there. If you would like to make your model a bit more risque and sultry, try looking at Feye Valantine (from Cowboy Bebop) or Daisy Dukes (Jessica Simpson’s character in Dukes of Hazzard film) for reference, especially since they are usually in short shorts.

As for proportions, becareful of the length of the arms. When down at the sides, the wrists are at about the same level as the crotch. I think cat paws would have helped reinforced the cat like idea, especially if you’re going to have fur. However anime features both furry cat-humans (anthropomorphs?) as well as humans+cat ears and tail, so it’s up to you. Of course, making your own style is great too.

Just giving some food for thought

Just a side note whether you’ve looked at it or not but cats have that slitted pupil. Unlike human pupils which open and close like a camera might, cat’s pupils open and close kinda like… I dunno curtains. %| If you want to draw out a real catty-ness then the pupils help. But if you like the pixar eyes better then have at it.

Edit: Kinda like this

ok ill be the 2nd person to knock the eyes

they look too big for the holes, kinda like there isnt enough eye white there. the iris? and pupil look like they need to be smaller

Nice Job

I would have to disagree with everyone else about adding muscles to the arms. I think you’re going for that extreme feminine look, and if you continue with the cartoonish line drawing’s then you will lose that look as the lines will emphasize the muscles too much IMO. I’d leave the arms that you have in the last shot from the 27th.

I’d have to agree that the ears need more detail, mainly a hard edge around the ridge, and sink the inside poly’s more towards the head. That will make them stick out a bit better in any line drawings that you do, and hair shouldn’t be covering those points. Hands are good, short shorts will look much better.

Nice top, it adds a lot of style but when it comes to animating it’s not going to cause issues with bumping into the arms. I’ll have to remember that :D.

With the eyes, I’d make 2 sets, one cat like and the ones that you have here. Then you can kind of jump between the 2 for when the character get’s upset or becomes especially catty. I would change the color to green or yellow for the cat eyes. Also, are you going to do thing like have her fingernails popping out and getting longer?

Overall I like her, character has a lot of feeling, will be interesting to see her animated.

Hmm i like it so far, but the face seems kind of flat. It could be the angle but i think she needs more cheek bone. That way it doesnt look like her eyes are bulging out. Maybe even bring the eyes a liitle back into her head. Or make her brow protrude a little. Maybe you should look at the Thunder Cats for some reference pictures. Just my imput. Keep up the hard work.
