Cat rigging for realistic animation (WIP)

I’m far from fresh here, bit I’ve only been lurking and coming here to try to get hints on how to do stuff on my own I might as well be. Thought I had an account, but apparently not.

I’m in the process of learning blender as well as cracking open the mysteries of animation and rigging. I have done modelling before, but blender is new territory, so I’m far from familiar with the tools.

Back to the rigg.
As I need to learn about rigging, animation and such, I’ve decided to take up creating a panther character. As blender has a rigging engine I’m hoping to use the same character to also learn about scripting and the logic of game creation.

So the final goal for a rigg that holds up for animation in games.

Here’s what I’ve got so far.

I tried to start with learning animation, but soon found that I didn’t get most of the the terms and the riggs were far to advanced for me to decipher, so I decided to start from the very beginning instead. Keep in mind that I’m still learning the terms and tools of all this, so I’m probably not going to get most of what you say without searching in the library files.

The history of this:
It all started with the adventure game “Paradise”, which advertised that you’d get to play as a wild panther. I had high hopes for that, but it turned out that it was just three levels that were skippable due to their shortness, bad performance and general lack of any meaningful story. The game itself is nice, but that part could’ve been so much more, and I draw more than a little inspiration for my project from this.
