Caught in a sea storm

I am working on an animated short coast guard sea rescue, and this is the opening scene. I am trying to get a wash splash effect of the waves on the left of the boat, and I was planning to use particles. Has anyone attempted this type of effect before, if so, then I would be happy to hear from you.

Warning: Might be a good idea to have some gravol or a bucket near you if you get seasick

The animated texture on the background is good but your sea is not very realistic yet. Try to add a t-clouds texture on your plane in the nor channel to simulate the smallest waves.
Caronte has done a fantastic anim of the sea in a storm and a small tut on how he did it, you should try to have a look at it but I don’t have the link so let’s try with google.

Serialsiner.

Thanks, I’ll try that.

Wow! Needs bigger waves and a darker sea…

Oh and could you do an on-boat view? That’d be even better…

As for the on board view, follow the link at the top of the page, it’s the second one. This short is about a fisherman getting rescued by a coast guard helicopter. You’re right, I put darker seas; also, I don’t like big waves with this program, they look too triangular. I was originally going for the straits of Cabot look. The seas are quite green there. Thanks for your feedback.
