CD label for animated short

I’m making a short comedy for the Blender Animation awards this fall. It’s called ‘Detention.’ The plot is more of a situation than a story. An emo kid and a geek are in a classroom, and have to communicate with each other without the teacher catching them. When the teacher leaves the room to use the restroom, the two kids get in a fight (like a spitwad shootout, w00+) and destroy the place.

Here’s the CD case label for it: (YafRay, Full GI, About 4.5 minutes, postprocess in Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004)

First of all that’s a real interesting concept you have for a story. If you can pull it off correctly then its going to be a nice animation

Now about the CD cover. I’d check the proportions on those desks: the seat look to small, the metal tubular supports are too thick and the table seems too long. Thrust me on those proportions, I have sat in those chairs for the last 6 years (except I don’t anymore since I left Texas and moved to Belgium this year). The materials are simple yet effective and if that’s the color style you will be using for the animation then I’m fine with it.
The cover image really conveys the overal theme of the movie which is great for a cover.

Good luck on that project!

I fixed the proportions, and softened up the shadows, they looked too sharp.

Hi Joe,

Nice lighting you have there!
I’d lower ther word “Detention” a bit, it touches the table on the left. So, the lower third of the image looks a little squeezed.
