I just burned an audio CD-R, but it’s got a strange problem. When I play it on my fancy expensive Sony protable player, it will unpredictably skip around for a moment, making a sound in the headphones something like “bzt-bzt----bzt-bztbzt”, and then continue playing. The whole time it’s doing this, the time counter blinks in and out of existence, but nothing else on the screen changes. Now here’s the rotten part. The CD plays fine on my cheap-o GPX boombox. What exactly is the problem here? Should I bug Sony, maybe? Both CD players are supposedly CD-R compatible, and the Sony has played plenty of other CD-Rs fine, and plays regular CD beautifully. What’s wrong?
That happened to me a couple of times. It’s probably the disc itself. On one player it might play fine because it’s more tolerant of scratches or burn errors. It also happens to me when I burn DAO instead of TAO.
