Cell Fracture on hand-drawn text

Hi !
I would like your help because I am trying to apply a cell fracturing effect on a text I “hand-modeled” (i.e: I didn’t use the text tool) but the result is quite strange.

Here are some grabs :
Before applying cell fracture

After.

It seems like the cell fracture doesn’t interpret my hand-drawn text as separate objects and joins the whole thing whereas the font based text looks fine…
Do you have a clue ? Maybe there’s a simple way to do it but i’m a total beginner…

Thanks in advance

Nobody can help me ?

Well, is your hand-drawn a mesh or a curve or what? Did you try separating the letters and then applying the fracture?

should be easier if you could upload a blend somewhere…
try optimizing mesh -at least removing doubles-, but haven’t really played that much with cell fracture

[B]@DarkCrescent : Thank you for replying, I forgot to mention that I removed doubles, my text is a mesh and I tried to apply Cell Fracture on all the letters then with separate letters (using P) but the result is the same…
I’ll upload a .blend so you can figure out what I mean.

Edit : .blend file cftext.blend (1.03 MB)

hi, seems to be a normals problem, try Ctrl+N -Recalculate Outside- so that booleans in script can run ok…
you can make normals visible also from Properties panel

@liero : You’re a lifesaver ! I Thought I already recalculate normals but seems like I didn’t ! Thanks for your help !
BTW is it possible to animate the cell fratured mesh using a particle system now ? (I’m just asking, I did’nt do any searches yet)

use a particle system + explode modifier to animate
if you need rigid body collisions then try BGE or new bullet integration test builds

I managed to animate the mesh using blender’s game engine (by recording animation).
Problem solved, thank you !
