“There are two main goals for these contests: Fun and Glory.
Fun: You get only 4 days to create a cool image, based on the theme for the week.
Glory: After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared. The winner picks the theme for next week and will be featured in the Feature Row.”
In the heart of an ancient forest, hidden from prying eyes, lies the labyrinth known as Endless Green Shadows. By moonlight, its emerald walls ripple with the whispers of time, concealing secrets older than the stars above. A shroud of mist drifts through the maze, blurring the paths that twist and wind, luring travelers deeper into its enigmatic embrace. Legends speak of those who enter seeking wisdom or treasure, only to find themselves lost in an eternal dance of shadows, where the only guide is the faint, haunting glow of the night.
Detailed Description
Since I only had time today to work on an image this weekend, I dedicated the entire day to creating it. For this piece, I drew some inspiration from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Labyrinth
I generated the maze mesh using Blender’s built-in maze generator (it’s easy to enable in Blender).
I applied a grass texture to the mesh.
Additionally, I scattered a plant from the free Plant Library across the maze.
This required a lot of trial and error because the number of instances quickly became overwhelming, but I eventually got it to work.
Forest
For the forest, I created a few hills using the ANT Landscape add-on and scattered some low-poly trees.
Fog
I placed VDB clouds within the maze and adjusted the shader to create the foggy effect.
Atmosphere
I used a night HDRI for the lighting, but since the moonlight was too weak, I added a sunlight source with nodes and set it to a blackbody temperature of 20,000K.
Post-Processing
I only did some contrast and color correction in Photoshop for the final touch.
Non-competing
Hello everyone! Its been a while since ive took part in a challenge, I have been very busy in 2024. Cool topic though, I prototyped a game called “labyrinth” that I have since stopped working on but I created alot of the assets and made alot of concept renders for it. Also theres a cool blender addon that automatically generates mazes which I used to make the map for the game!
Here are some of the 9 monsters I came up with (they all have their own creepy way of hunting you):
Cannibal:
Blender 4.3 cycles pure entry. I spent most of my time modeling my partial maze, saved me the task of creating an actual labyrinth with viable paths. I tried to have fun with it. I tried to find a random vertex color addon, to no avail, so I opted to use random selection in edit mode to assign vertex colors. Not the same but it kind of did the job, so the bricks sort of look different from each other.
well i decided to go with this its not done but, its about where i want it i want to do more to it and stopped here.
i’ll go open with this one.
Name: Adventure into the DND You Say " HA HA "… I’M IN.
Blender 3.2
all procedural textures
the dragon is not my model but, i modeled the other two characters.
cycles 1000 samples
very miner post processing in blender compositor.
about 15-20 area lamps orange red and a very light blue for the smaller details
5 displacments 3 on the wall and 2 on the floor.
procedural textures on the wall and floor have 2 bump maps socketed into normal maps to give it a little more detail.
the same is done with the dragon procedural texturing with bump to norm.
particle system for the crystals.
its a enclosed area so no light from the outside can get in.
any way my dream was about this scene.
i was adventuring in a place like this and another person was with me the dragon shows up and is flying in the background shooting fireballs while im dodging them im firing back and i advise the other person to join in and they do.
Soooo its a battle.
Good luck guys and have fun.
thought it was WC 1134 and its 1124 LOL my pic says 1134 Sorry for that i got ahead of myself
The image is probably quite a bit darker than intended. Have you checked one of those monitor calibration test images? They can be really useful when adjusting brightness/contrast levels.
I’ve noticed that when I post some of my scenes they look about where I want them on my pc but when I see them on my phone the color is a little darker or brighter than intended like you said.
I noticed it a few yours ago for one of the weekend challenges can’t remember which one.
it was a subway scene for i think it was WC vanguard.
Someone told me it needed to be brighter because of the lighting I had in it.
It’s like when I play video games I turn the brightness all the way up so I can see in dark scenes even though they are meant to be dark.
I would have loved to got that sucker model that was made during that challenge.
