“There are two main goals for these contests: Fun and Glory.
Fun: You get only 4 days to create a cool image, based on the theme for the week.
Glory: After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared. The winner picks the theme for next week and will be featured in the Feature Row.”
Blender crashed 2 times and the third time crashed my whole system my pc went crazy working on EVEE is still risky,i hope someday will be viable and safe.
Title: Autumn trees
Pure
I wanted to make a low poly scene this week similar to some of the stuff that Polygon Runway creates, I also wanted to practice geometry nodes.
I started by modelling the trees using a cylinder, with the top slightly scaled smaller. I then used an Icosphere that I had scaled differently on each axis for the canopy. For the base terrain I used a cube, I then used geometry nodes to create the path from the Bezier curve (similar to how I did it for my forest path scene that I am working on this node tree was simpler though since I only needed to change the material and not the instancing of the grass, Forest path scene - Blender 3D environments course).
Leaf model by me.
Water surface created using procedural displacement and dynamic paint.
Water material from blenderkit.
Leaf texture generated using bing create. Material by me.
Pebble material based on two images from unsplash.
Post processing in gimp
I hope I understood the contest task correctly. All materials are procedural, created in Blender. I used geometry nodes to arrange the leaves. The only external asset I used was an HDRI map. I don’t know how much time it took because I only read about the challenge on Saturday evening. In my defense, my main computer broke down, and I did this on an HP EliteBook 8760w from 2010.
Welcome! I originally planned to build something out of toothpicks, acorns and chestnuts. Nice to see that a few of them found their way into an entry.
