“There are two main goals for these contests: Fun and Glory.
Fun: You get only 4 days to create a cool image, based on the theme for the week.
Glory: After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared. The winner picks the theme for next week and will be featured in the Feature Row.”
Blender 5 cycles pure entry. Similar to @Frau_Kwatsch entry but I used a curve.
Lots of crashing and head scratching this week. My mom used to be a very avid knitter when she was young. Sometimes I wish I understood what she did, still rocket science to me, even the most basic technique.
Title: Sci-Fi
Pure
For this weeks entry I wanted to create a looping animation, my aim was for the start and the end to perfectly match up, unfortunately this failed. So I ended up with a loop, but the start and the end aren’t the same, so I can’t double the length by putting the frames together.
However, I am really please with how it turned out, I followed a tutorial from Ducky 3D.
The effect is made using Geometry Nodes, which I just about understand how works. The instancing makes sense, but the curves for the wire loose me.
I animated the W value of the noise texture, to create the animation.
The lighting is done via 3 area lights, parented to the camera and emission nodes. The tutorial used EEVEE, but I got better results with Cycles, so that’s what I used.
I created the lantern then I added a wet concrete texture that I made created a particle system and made a basic rain shape and yea this is a loop video
If shorts are causing problems, you can usually just use the id from the short video url and attach it to a normal youtube link. Let’s see if it works:
