The Goodbye Door

Pure. This door is made for people who are leaving their towns. By exiting the room, they are saying “Goodbye” to their neighborhood.

Letting Go…

Pure, Cycles, 5.2

Lots and lots and lots of sculpting. Studio lighting techniques and using the compositor for film grain and final adjustments

Taking the Shot

Blender 5.1 cycles pure entry. Motion blur on the ball and real grass geometry on the ground.

Also, congrats Spain on winning the FIFA cup :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Let go of the past

Had a lot of trouble getting a good shape for the lantern(s) so I ended up doing what you do in real life and just wrapped the paper casing around a frame (but with geometry nodes)

One of those pieces that start out basic and end up being so fun to work on that you can’t stop adding things

Viewport/wireframe, here you can better see some hints of the frame inside the lanterns

Let “it” go

Sometimes you just need to get it out - so let it go…

Geometrically, it’s a rather simple scene, but I’ve used a lot of light linking, shadow linking, and projections with procedural patterns on spotlights. This makes it look more complex than it actually is.

Letting it go

Open entry: Character I downloaded, Bug was created for another Weekend Challenge. Blender 3.6 EEVEE & Freestyle.

Just a simple ‘feelgood’ bit this time around due to lack of time. Got the idea on the commute home from work Saturday night, so that only gave me 2 evenings to work on this. Wanted to add a 2nd scene where the bug meets its end…

I created the bug for Weekend Challenge #1201 but didn’t have time to do the animation I had in my mind. Even though the challenge ended, I kept working on my idea, and posted it as a YouTube short here

@Tessa - welcome aboard!

Lots of nice entries this weekend!
