I just want to mention, before I get accused of copying Tom, that the scene I am working on is vaguely similar to Toms composition, but that I came up with it on my own, well before Tom posted his render. There are some differences in the overall scene, of course, but the hole in the wall with the creature coming out thing is kind of similar. Sorry about the similarity, Tom, it’s just a coincedence.

Definitively my best render so far.
I think it still classifies as Pure. Only the ships body were reused and all materials are procedural except for the arrows and text on the signs.

you still have 6 days to do it Magic Mike. This one doesn’t close until next monday because theeth is going to SIGGRAPH. We have a special full week edition of the weekend challenge! I’m modeling my ass off every day. My project is of epic proportions. Hopefully I can finish on time.

haha not really. I just want to make a cool and ambitious still. I’m thinking of not entering it into the contest though (just making it a project to put in the finished stills) becaust I question how portal related it is.
I’m making a dark, messy, old attic with a dollhouse as the main subject. But the dollhouse (not really a dollhouse because the house is completely enclosed) has one window lit up. To imply some freaky interface to another dimension inside. Or perhaps that miniature people are living another world in the old dollhouse. I really like the concept and wouldn’t want to change it for the sake of the contest. Do you guys think that’s portal related enough? The idea was indeed inspired by this weeks theme.
The doll house itself could be the portal to the other dimension. I think your concept fits enough to participate.

I like all these short leashed portal things we got a going on here… Could someone devise a dry clean shower portal to stop me from smelling the strange way i do
… Updated image, but it’s still clean with details missing all over (esp. the curb grouting) and an unbelievably quick particle system (might update that in a bit!). All the 3 visible shops in the arcades portal haven’t even been touched except for the temporary arrow signs. As for the proceeding part of the ally, not enough detail to add to the sense of perspective detail, so… don’t vote for me!
