The U.S.S. Spectre.
Her com system went offline years ago during an ill fated battle, but legend has it this apparition can still be seen patrolling the outer rim of the quadrant, hunting for the enemy fleet.

I took the idea that you can’t see ghosts but you can feel their presence…

I trashed my simple lightning picture, so the lightning is now a long extracted plane with a marble texture.

“Welcome where the time stands still, no one leaves and no one ever will”
Death isn’t always definitive. Imagine the hell for this alien soul trapped in space suit, forever lost in the cold eternal universe, so far and yet so close to his fellow ghosts at ship nearby. Hope is dead, but this poor soul is not and never will be.

They thought Galileo was crazy when he predicted the orbit of a “ship” would cross paths with Earth again in early September, 2003…it turns out he was right after all.

Nightmares, are the dreams caught by the pirates riding the ghostship. Some say they throw them overboard when they get to wicked for the ship to handle. And another bunch say when a storm is brewing the ghostship maybe seen

The spaceshipcity Omega was the last of it’s kind and it vanished in the depth of space. Now, some people say they’ve seen it haunting the skies of Earth, but we’re still without any news from its inhabitant and its crew. The only resident seems to be that mist.

Here is my ghost ship. It is not finished yet, but I think I bit off more than i could chew, so i’ll post it anyway. It is a fishing boat sunk in a fast moving area of water just off the Chathem Island Current. Some say they can see lights on the bridge. Can you?

it was a ghostship,
I swear it, I saw it,
carrying empty looking people.
and it was so silent,
everything was so silent.
I could hear them breathing,
slowly,
taking deep breaths,
one after another.
it was the city,
it had to be the city.

Everyone was asleep in the cryo chambers when a big meteor hit them. Navigation computer was completely destroyed by the collision, as well as one of the engines, sending the ship spinning into wast void of intergalaxian space. From this moment the survivors, three people from planet Earth, while biologically alive, were statistically dead. The chance that someone intelligent will eventually find and revive them equals zero. So they could be called ghosts of the 23rd century - poor souls trapped to the immobilized bodies until the End of Times.

It was a toss up, so I cast my vote for yours truly. :Z

Me vote for myself niark niark niark 8)
Once in a life time, I’ve decided to vote for me and myself. Forgive my selfishness.
By the way, voting for one’s self is a baaad attitude :<
See you dudes.
I.S.

I thought yours rocked, Igor, but where’s the thumb? %|

Yeah… Stupid me. I never think about those thumb.

I didn´t make thumb too :expressionless: . Stupid myself, great handicap :frowning: OK, maybe next time

I voted for Desoto-111 for the interesting concept and attractive render. There are several other very nice ones here, and everyone deserves a round of applause. After spending over 15 hours on mine I do hope to see a few votes, but whatever comes my way would be cool and deeply appreciated.

yes and yours was really good too! must remember the thumb!

And as Robert said,…they were all good. This is some stiff competition. :o

As I see, Igor´s pic has thumb now- how can I make thumb of mine when thread is closed please? Thanx in advance.

just send it to me by PM or post it here.

Hi Theeth,

thank you for your fast reply. I did thumb of my WC entry here:

http://www.peregrius.cz/ukazky2/skafandr_sm
http://www.peregrius.cz/ukazky2/contest2.html

Can you place it on top instead my old entry please? Thank you in advance. It is my first WC entry and I really didn´t know that thumb is as important as really is :expressionless: . Valuable knowledge for next contests anyway:)

Have a nice day.

Pavel

 Tol usually thumbnails are a bit smaller than that, but at least you’ve got a pic up there now! Great work everyone! I did the immoral thing and voted for myself…argh…all great entries though.

Better now?

lol! I wasn’t suggesting you should change it! I was just being snotty! lol

Seeing how many votes Crow got so far made me go back to his image/post. It is a cool picture, and I had always wanted to make lightning like that, especially for this type of subject. I was a little disappointed to find out Crow had explained it was actually an image found on Google, and by disappointed I mean I thought someone had figured out how to make such really cool lightning effects. So my question is can such realistic lightning be achieved in Blender? I remember reading somewhere else in the contest thread someone used a marble texture, which I figured out how that could be done, but the glow wasn’t really there. I also figured out how to make a bunch of lightning-like lines and put halo materials on them but that sort of seemed inefficient and artificial. I will try that a bit more in future projects, but I was thinking something more along the lines of particle effects. Maybe the former technique (lines/halo mat.) is the better one for lightning. Any suggestions?

It is little off topic, but well  Some time ago (well three years) I wrote tutorial on jedi sabre, where I achieve imho good glowing sabre and I think same principle could be used on lighting too. I would model lighting stroke and give it white material with NoShadow enabled, give it an emit and use it as root of lighting. then I would make second mesh which would be multipologonal tracking stroke form. Subdivide it several times and make halo material.
That old tutorial is here (not in English thougt, but you can see, if result is what you are looking for and pics are selfexplanatory).

Please If you want to answer me to this post, feel free to contact me, bud do not do it here, because it is really off topic

Actually, during the Beach theme WC (a few weeks back) someone was impressed with the way someone created waves, and there was a question and an answer in the vote thread about how that was done. No one had a problem with it then, so if it’s about the contest or an entry in the contest I personally would consider it “on topic” Good tutorial by the way. The only thing I didn’t try that you suggest is using Emit.

And speaking about the weekend challenge, in general now, I wonder if maybe the pure/open classification might ever be reconsidered. By “pure” I always figured “done completely in Blender” except for textures, but having reread the rules I see you can in fact use entire backgrounds and even existing objects as long as the foreground objects are new. I tend to think existing backgrounds should make an entry “open,” especially if they’re a prominent part of a scene, but I can sort of understand why some people would argue the practice is still “pure,” even though it does seem to have the potential to create unfair advantages. Well, just some thoughts anyway

Ah yes, my vote goes to rogerm3d. I would have voted for crow, but seeing the results I thought that roger’s work really should be higher up there. We really need a better voting system, e.g. crow 6 and rogerm3d 4 points out of 10 distributable points or smth. Just an idea. Well, great entries everyone. And I promise that I will try and enter the next WC too

NOOOOOOoooooooooo…!!!..me late again :x …damn school!!!

My vote went to crow, that pic rocks.

Would of voted for myself, but as no-one else will then it seems a bit pointless.
