Just in case you don’t know, these types of covered wagons were used in the American Westward movement in the mid- to late- 1800’s. They were called “land ships” and “schooners of the prairie.”

I know I’m a bit late. Boy…I had so much more work to do on this. But I’m just going to submit it as it is and my exuse is this: The town you’re looking at is still under construction so not all of the buildings are done

Here’s my pure entry, an ever so slightly “adult toy story” completely designed and rendered in Blender 2.28a

Wu
After watching his brothers and sisters get picked and eaten Bud decided to take things into his own hands.

For some reason all I could think of for Wild West was fruit dressed up like cowboys, I have lots of emotional problems.

‘Spaghetti Blender’ This is my non entry. Didn’t quite finish it, so sorry to leave you hanging. It’s a WMV so if you don’t have something that plays WMVs, just say something, and I’ll post it in a different format. Enjoy!

I was torn between DeSoto and Robbert. I ended up voting for Robert on the basis that only procedural textures appear to have been used. Very many nice entries. I like them all.

nice work to all the contestants. Here is the result of my weekend challenge work, only it was too late. Well, they say its all about the experience anyways.

ok, ,that didn’t work.

here is a link

I voted for Robertt because I really liked the toy story movies and I think his work is very true to the original. I guess that makes it a bit unoriginal by nature, but heck, it was well done and it made me laugh so he got my vote!

My vote goes to Desoto. I really like the feel of the old town. Very nice work. You could do some great animation in a scene like that.

My vote goes to Desoto, felt that his work was the best composed and developed, or something like that %|

Thanks, Modron! Yes, only procedural textures were used, and getting standard Blender materials/textures to work on a model, not to mention an entire scene, can be challenging (and it was)

RobertT

Thanks, Desoto-111! I really appreciate that. Your scene was well done too.

RobertT

Desotto got mine, simply like his work the best, Robertt got my runner up for hilarity but i was tryign to keep it within Wild West and his kinda drew away, but it was great none the less.

Everyone did great, Good Job all.

MacBlender

i was torn between tordat and desoto.

but tordat got my vote in the end

My vote went to Robertt because he is objectively best this week- best modeling, best composition ect. , it looks pretty professional

Thank you very much, Tol! In this Works in Progress thread I call this render a “personal breakthrough” because while attempting this scene it I learned new things about Blender and found a way to make something difficult I had visualized into a reality. I elaborate in the WIP post, but suffice it to say this particular weekend challenge proved to be special for me and helped me get to another level I may not have reached anytime soon if it weren’t for this contest

RobertT

I had to vote for threedee. I dont even come close to understanding it, but it made me laugh.

Id like to see modron’s animation, but wmv is icky.

I meant to enter, and i had an idea for it, but i was too busy playing tradewars.

I voted for RobertT. Clean, good modeling, funny.

I’d like to participate again to the WC, but I’m too busy at the moment. I’m at school from monday to saturday (included) and on sunday, I sleep (like that big guy called God). I just have one thing to say about it: school sucks.
See you
-IS-

Heh, thanks. :stuck_out_tongue:

I spent quite a bit of time on my model and half way through I asked myself why am I doing this. It was at that beginning stage of the model when everything looks like crap and you just want to give up. Then last night I saw that I had gotten a vote, and it made my day. And then all the frustration and time was more then worth it.
Thanks

I also liked Tamarin’s model a lot too, but Desoto was right on the money. I look forward to next weeks challenge.

I voted for Robert, Wu, but was nonetheless very impressed by your entry. I hope you will be competing again next week.

Wu, your entry was very clever and artistic, and the modeling is great. I think the thing that detracts from it is that you forgot to turn on OSA, and that the strawberries are a bit too shiny. Other than that its a great concept and it should definitely get a few more votes. The biggest problem with my entry is that it looks so unfinished, which is why I think Robert should win this one, because his scene is very much complete. Good luck!

Looks like he is catching up, too. :o
