Tough Choice Tuesday!
Hey rarebit, pull mine out. It was a non compete. I have had that on my FB page background for at least two weeks. Fair is Fair.
If he can’t then everyone don’t waste your vote. I can believe I wrote that today of all days.
rarebit probably moved the voting thread’s start date to Tuesday on purpose. So, that everyone outside the US can vote as well. Such a nice idea.
For everyone having two votes today, wasting one of them wouldn’t be that bad … you just have to decide which one to waste.
(another tough choice)
Helge, I cringed. It’s very eek, but I like it. Althogh there are other good entries, I think yours stands out.
Not voting is still voting, but without influence… apathetic
@PuaGo: Thanks, glad you like it. [even though the entry is a little darker this time :-)]
@rarebit: I guess you are right. However, we could probably design a voting system which fixes this flaw…
No reference to anything… but I think the flaw is in the candidates usually… so a poor turnout is indicative if represented in actual figures and not skewed with percentages. However, not voting means you have no influence on who gets in (or wins the WC)! There was a recent vote in Hungary where voters were urged to spoil their voting cards, this meant a certain side could claim a larger victory no matter the outcome by combining the apathetic and trendy votes. Two few options and we have no choice, too many and we are bound by the hindrances of a multitude of disparate motives.
I just read up on that (well, a little). The recommendation to return invalid voting cards (by voting yes and no) seems to have been an idea of the Two-tailed Dog Party (great name btw.). The way I understand it, doing this or not voting at all would not have made a difference (as invalid votes were ignored).
If we applied the idea to the WC voting (e.g. voting for Gordi this week would be kind of invalid), neither ‘voting invalid’ nor ‘not voting’ would change the outcome/winner (as we don’t have something like an electoral threshold) but ‘voting invalid’ would still lower everyone else’s percentages.
Fun with votes … maybe random number generators could provide a solution.
Exactly…
But still the will of the actual voters prevails…
Not sure how a RNG or PRNG would help change a persons mind, no matter what the virtual dice may tell us to do…
But I would still appreciate the votes anyway.
Cut out the middle man. The dice will vote - no need for minds.
Well, I guess my automatically generated dice votes would probably lower that appreciation a little…
I was wondering… why can’t there be two winners? Maybe the two can come up with the next topic together…or maybe two chosen themes are combined? Just a thought.
If I remember correctly, there is a time component in the rules. If two entries [of the same type (pure/open)] have the same number of votes, the one which was submitted earlier, wins. Right now this would be modelar as I entered my final entry image (very) late on Monday evening.
Oooh, maybe I should read the rules because I just cast the deciding vote (generally late to give others a chance), and up to this point I’ve been thinking Modelar, mainly because I’ll never forget the long long weekend I took to make a fully rigged / feathered bird, but the inner child in me so wants to vote for Unicornaphobist… Hmmm, time for a die me finks, who wants to be odd and who even, or is high n low more politically correct…? Argh the choices…
And… The winner of Weekend Challenge 698 with 36.36% of the votes… modelar!
Here’s to all the great participators…
