There was a lot of very interesting materials this week!

(English is not my native language) #4

That’s right, good to see so many participants.

(MagicGlow) #5

Feels nice to be back. Have not touched Blender for 6 months or so and I felt a little bit rusty, but WC is a good way to get started again.
It’s also here theory and practice meet (great ideas in my head… but the result is not always what expected). This time I was getting some rendering error when adding the steam to the pot, so I gave that part up… but still, I got a vote. Not bad  (and I did not vote on myself).

(rarebit) #6

You got me thinking MagicGlow (so not really directed at you), about votes… Yes I may be able to troll, and have more than enough accounts to win every weekend, if I remember rightly I have actually only ever won the WC once, and that weekend there were issues with the internet, pre bind9, it may have been when Pakistan poisoned the worlds DNS caches to censor Youtube, soooo if everyone else had managed to get on and submit or vote, the result may not have been mine, life really isn’t about winning and beating everybody else…

(Helge) #7

Yes! It is a colorful selection. Even more than I expected.

Let’s see if we can keep that up.

That is exactly why I originally entered the WC. After a few no-3d-years it was a great opportunity to to get back into the game (and to finally leave C4D and start to learn some blending).

Some times bad luck wins. My GTX 580 went up in smoke last weekend… Maybe it read the Blender developers meeting notes - March 19, 2017:

"GPU notes for Cycles in 2.79:

  • This will likely be the last one supporting NVidia GTX 5xx cards (and older)."

Fortunately the replacement arrived yesterday. So, everything is set and ready for the weekend.

Don’t worry: [google]( %22winner: rarebit%22) found a few additional wins

#407: Illusion
#450: Entrance
#485: Fairy Tale

First they will say he was a good Muslim, they can’t believe it, he was good and charitable, but then they will say he was obviously not a Muslim, who are they?

(rarebit) #11

Found it… Illusion

(fdo) #12

wow, very cool to win this time, so my effort into my metal shader was worth it. this time there are some very nice entries, my personal favorite is “tin man” - i like the athmosphere

(Ryeath) #13

I voted for your pot. Cute little fella.

(Mswan) #14

Thanks fdo! Congrats on the win! I would say the effort you put into your metal shader was definitely time well spent. I also liked the lighting you set up as well with the soft glow coming off the metal pieces.

(Helge) #15

I actually remember that one. Very nice!

It definitely deserved a few more votes. And was one of the top three entries of our family internal jury. (Mswan won that vote eventually.)
