Hippie
Fremen, the sandwarriors of Dune.
Silently they move like shadows, but they are deadlier than sackfull of poisonous sankes.
They wear stillsuits to prevent water loss from their bodies.

This ornithopter is supposed to appear for a minute in the movie Dune. I found some pictures on the net of a Revell model that someone had built and they did a really nice job. I used their pictures for the model shape and for the texture.

I never saw the movie Dune. I borrowed, the game: Emperor: Battle for dune, and I played the whole game until the end, until the great worm was defeated. I had an idea to make the next wurm that would rule the planet: Arakis (I’ll hope is spell is good) I really liked the theme and it’s the first time I try a weekend challenge and the second time I post a 3D render made with blender, on elysiun. Thanks to many people who posted an great blender source with materials. I tested many ways of making materials, and I found a way to make is nice. I hope you like the picture.

theres my vote jogi!

And mine too hehe… Just the best atmosphere. Too bad I couldn’t join you fellers this week (was sick… “cough” damn)… just wait till next weekend hehe

It was really hard to decide,…I considered several, but ended up going with Jogi as well.

Tough decision  Hippie, I voted for you. Great hair!

RobertT

rob got mine, great scene

MacBlender

koudejongen got my vote, wonderful photographic dune and little details in scene.

thanx jogi, I like the mood of you’re work as well. Allthough I didn’t cast my vote Jet
This WC is really a learning experience to me. This time I’ve learned that my dust and smoke skills really need improving

Awesome job everyone, I really like Modron’s and Robertt’s, but my vote has to go to Jogi, very impressive.

Looks like you all can teach me something about environments!

I wonder, do people look beyond a thumbnail?

Fantasic work all… I am always amazed at the skill of you people. It makes me come away from this thinking damn, I must continue to learn and pratice.

Jogi got my vote, but I was very close to choosing robs as I love it too… wtg guys…

Vamp

Koudejongen is my favorite. Judging from the calm strolling fremen the sandworm is obviously merely saluting them. Right?

Great mining machine, Jogi!

Rangel

Jogi, well modelled and well lit. Great work this time out.

BgDM

of course we do, even when we get paid by someone for our vote and it doesn’t really matter!

Of course for every single pic . But for comparison and the final vote I usually use the thumbnails. It would be good if each entry would have a full image, medium sized thumbnail. Otherwise it’s a bit annoying IMO.

All entries are very good. Congratulations.

I had to vote for Modron. I dig the chrome ornithopters crusing along. The atmosphere looks really good.

ok just wondering.
Like always I’m a victim of my own insecurity in regard to the quality of my work.
And I was wondering if it would be wiser for the next time to post a smaller version of my picture instead of a cut out.

Thanks enos for the vote. I tend to assume that some people only look at the thumbs, so I try to provide a good illustration of the larger picture.

That’s really dumb, when people look only at the thumbnail. Then you miss all the datails on the another pictures. Maybe you look at a tumbnail, and say, aargh that’s blurry, but if that person looked afther the normal one, maybe they say, holy sh…t that’s detailed.
