Pie in the sky.
I think warp drive may still be some way off.
I did use an image texture for the pie crust but will call it a pure entry. Cycles, 400 samples.
Here is my non-competing entry:
PHI.DRV (DIVINE PROPORTION WARP DRIVE)
Pure Blender 2.79, Cycles, only procedural textures.

It is always great to see you designing new space ships. And I think most Science Fiction books would sell a lot better with one of these on the cover.
Btw. originally, I planned modeling some kind of bended/warped scifi steam train warp engine vessel. In the end, I just couldn’t find the time this weekend.
I was thinking this weekend that one boring thing about space art is that all pictures look similar, but @RobertT just proved me wrong.
Warp Core
300 samples with denoiser.
Thought I would do an interior, had something more architectural on mind but it is close enough for a days work.
To the Edge and Beyound
I’m somewhat proud of the procedural nebula texture I made. It is not great, but much better than my first attempts.
That is nice procedural nebula!
This has an awesome sense of scale and an epic feel. Well done.
Thanks so much, Helge
I would have really loved to see your take on this topic.
Beautiful and mysterious!
Thanks, @Millani!
Great work on the procedural nebula - and the rest of your render!
And thanks for your comments on my recent entries.
Such nicely varied and visually compelling entries so far, everyone!

A few small bad compositing tweaks done in Natron

I’ll see if I can do something about that.
Nicely done! And I thought things like this were taken care for after the Excelsior incident…
Btw.: Is this one pure, open or non-competing?
Sorry Helge!
it’s non-competing
Thanks
Just had to put together a little something:
