Well, good news! I guess, in that case, I can stop setting up a weekend challenge entry dead drop for outlaw participants on the dark net.

I guess sometimes the bart is worse than the bite, haha! :drum:
Ok, sorry about that…

@RobertT I really liked the colours in your image. As soon as I saw it, I thought about those ancient Greek vases and how your image had a similar vibe.

@FlyingBanana You know, after a closer look, those really look like cannabis leaves

@icyou520 This reminds me of some computer game, where you can see where the enemies are and what the plan is. Kind of makes me wonder what you want to do to your hometown. The hologram effect is very neat, it looks very sci-fi-ish.

I added some chameleons from @Maelys031 to my entry. It feels a bit more authentic now (see if you can find them all).

So far, I’m counting three. (In the image - not here at home. ;-))

Nice entries everyone,

Here are my thoughts and questions (@Photox ):

Flying Banana – Pick your poison

Great job with the modeling and texturing. I think you could of put some of the leaves on top of the bullseye, Kind of like a garnish. I am similar to you in that I have lived in a lot of different states. So it is kind of hard to pin point a “hometown”. Great Job.

SirDraco65 – An Everyday Boring Sight

Your description is hilarious. I think it is something Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh would of wrote. I would of liked to see a better sky in the background. It seems a little washed out. Otherwise nice clean reander, good job.

Purbosky – City Icon

I am actually surprised this one didn’t get more votes. Before voting I was thinking this might win. It has an eerie feeling to it. I think you did a great job with the image. There isn’t much I would change with it.

Peachful Whale – My Neighborhood

I am wondering if those are a bunch of CCTV’s looking right at your house. Makes me wonder what you are up to with the city feeling the need to have so much surveillance on you. Lol Nice clean render.

Milani – Helgenburg

Hmmm, I am not sure I would like to visit Helgenburg, although it seems very clean and colorful, I have a feeling the lamppost are going to eat poor Helge, and leave him next to that apple under the bench. I know kids would love watching this if it was an animated series.

Maelys031 – Calvin hometown

What a great idea and execution. I love all the people running. The city must be going crazy seeing giant Calvin, the cars are flipping over and he hasn’t even got there yet. Nice job with everything.

CrazyCG Chick – Fish n Chips

I am not from Europe but I do love Fish n’ Chips, Nice job with the newspaper. I think replacing the rainy picture of window with an actual window with raindrops would drastically improve your image. Good job.

Vaukalak – Molo12345

I love the church models, great job on those. I think I read in the entries thread that you ran out of time, I would love to see what it looks like when its finished. I am curious how bad that hotel is that it is surrounded by churches. Good job.

Icyou520 – Hometown Hologram

Hmmmm……. The image does look neat but doesn’t really make sense. I would of liked to see some crepuscular rays from the small house to the big house to looks like its what we are “zoomed” in on. Are those rectangle particles from a Blender Cloud tutorial?

Fcharr – Frozen in time

I didn’t know you were from Antarctica! Are the fences to keep the penguins away? I really like the log cabins with the spiral staircase. I am curious now, where is your hometown that it is so cold?

Helge – Old Hometown

Hmmmm… something is not right, I think Helge’s hometown is actually closer to Milani’s entry. I wouldn’t of guessed you were from such a gloomy place, with no apples. I have a new found respect for your art now, I didn’t know you were half platypus, half gopher, half seal, and 100% awesome!

RobertT – Odysseus Returns

What an awesome image. I love how the color theme was chosen for this entry (I fell like you put that info there for me specifically lol). I love how much thought goes into your work. With all of your entries I get to learn something new. Great job.

ARC9 – v10, WIP 3

I love that 2nd image. It reminds me of a scene in a movie called “Kung Fu Hustle”. If you enjoy comedies, I highly recommend it. I feel like I am waiting for something to come out of the water. Maybe when Mantaflow is added you can use this scene as an intro for your demo reel. Have your logo or info come out of the water. Just an idea. Great job.

Photox – Polka Dot Mailbox

Im confused ……So many questions …… Why is it called Polka Dot mailbox? ………… Why is the image so small? ………… What is that circle in the background? …Where is your hometown, that you have a polka dot mailbox and blizzards?..…. Where is the food at? ………. Can you please explain your image to me.

Cheers,

Congrats @icyou520 ! What a vote race it was !

As for my piece, I think one reason is because it might not be fitting the theme too much (just a single monument), except maybe if I add some buildings in the bg (which I discarded the idea then…) so it can get more hometown-ish vibe. Another reason maybe because it’s not internationally well-known so people would have to see the comments on the entry post to know what it really is. Put that beside a fanart and you’ll get crushed, lol! :joy:

Btw, great job on your hologram entry! Those rectangles underground are kinda suspicious, makes me think you’re somehow planning to hide stashes of humongous bars of gold under your home, or maybe nuclear warheads…? Boxes of Doritos is a good idea too.

Anyway, thanks for the comments, always enjoy reading them all. Hereby I dub you the lifetime commentator of BA weekend challenge. :crown:

No Please! I do NOT want that pressure, I already get anxiety over some of these entries. :upside_down_face: It really is more difficult than I thought it would be. Sometimes I feel like I might be offending some. I don’t know their goals, skill level, age, etc… I would word things differently if I knew. I liked the way Milani explained how he perceived the image. I always thought it was eye opening.

Plus I see how horrible my grammar is, and English is the only language I know. :joy:

Ah, great idea! You and @Millani are now lifetime commentators. Yay!

Congrats on the win, icyou520! Though I gave my vote to this week runner-up, it goes without saying ur entry is a well deserved win!

Well done to everyone I now need to up my game a bit :stuck_out_tongue:

@icyou520 Thank you for your feedback. I think I concentrated too much on the fish look. I have seen a tutorial about a window with rain drops on it so will review and learn from it

Thank you! I wasn’t sure how noticeable it was
And considering how the lamp posts do not have teeth, they probably cannot harm anyone (hell, they don’t even have lamps…).

Give some a hand and they take the whole arm…

Why stop with an arm?!
