“There are two main goals for these contests: Fun and Glory.
Fun: You get only 4 days to create a cool image, based on the theme for the week.
Glory: After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared. The winner picks the theme for next week.”
Please remember to state if your entry is pure, open or non-competing.
For details please check out the: CHALLENGE RULES
Btw.: Comments are welcome in both threads (entries/voting). Have fun!
I will probably sit this one out cause instantly my brain went to a huge scene that I know I wouldn’t be able to complete in time. So unless I come up with something smaller and reasonable enough to get done then I will just be a spectator watching with eager eyes.
I thought of a way to make eyes like you have for your image just haven’t got around to doing it haven’t fired up my computer in over about 2 months been disappointed I couldn’t make that short film
Guess it’s time to fire up the beast " computer " and put the gauntlets back on again “put my fingers back to work” and my imagination😁
Modifiers are your friends. Could always just make a few sample buildings and then use particles to spread them across your city.
I don’t think i will participate this weekend by my idea was to take a google terrain map of a city and load it up into blender, use google maps and curves to make the roads and tweak them manually, model a couple of small building to fill up the city and then manually modeling a few big ones.
Basically taking an already existing city layout and then changing everything to make it look futuristic, this should cut down the time required to make the city and leave more time for effects.
My plan: isometric city
Not too difficult to complete on the weekend. I will focus on the aesthetics for it a bit more. I will not have to worry about a huge scene that would take lots of effort to complete.
There will be other opportunities.
However, it isn’t helpful, that even a short film is difficult to produce within a short time frame. Which (so far) has always prevented me from really getting into making one of these. Some kind of time machine or time inflating device would probably help with that.
Lol ya the time frame is what kills you when producing a film in a short time, but we were going to go live action with vfx, I needed a run down building for the main scene and didn’t know where to look everything else would have been easy I guess.
Had a lot to factor in with the time that I didn’t account for.
I’ll know next time I try again, I’m still learning about producing a film, done writing end everything else😁
I’m still completely new to a lot of Blender and this will only be my second published work, but I’m in. This is a placeholder- it’ll be a pure competing entry when I’m done
In this case, blender and a little green screen action could come in handy!
Or you could just ignore your actors safety. An approach which worked rather nicely for James Cameron when he was shooting Titanic, if I remember correctly.
Lol ya I have all the equipment to do green screen, vfx, video recording and assets just needed a building😁
I don’t think the actor would want to do without safety on this scene because they would have to jump out of a skyscraper window horizontaly , but I thought of a way to deal with that to just now would have to use a lift and have actor jump out onto lift horizontaly but I was going to shot the inside scene and green screen the actor in for this it would be easier for the actor to jump horizontaly behind a few boxes
I was talking to nitram_2000 and said it would be easier to use one person so I went through my script and decided this was the best scene for it, only two characters through 3 min of video😋.
I might go ahead and try to finish it sometime in the future if I can find a 2 story building, I can model the window I need and mask out the video window and I can make a mess in the building with foam for fake wood , brick, and furniture
