The winner picks the theme for next week.

If the winner doesn’t supply a theme before Thursday 22:30 GMT, the organizer will select the theme. In this case, the winner’s theme will be used the next time we are lacking a theme on Thursday 22:30 GMT. :slight_smile:

Having selected the theme, the winner will not be eligible to enter that week. They may however still submit an image, but it won’t be included in the voting.

I have a feeling that the server that hosts the site has a case of badsectoritis. Lots of broken images.

Are the above pictures visible? They look fine to me but there have been some issues lately.

yeah, same here. Missing several images, they just don’t seem to load and when I go to the entry page they show a broken image link.

In all 3 cases, clicking brings up the full image.

That is strange. Since @bartv checked this out, everything looks fine to me. Does deleting your browser cache or opening the thread with a private browser tab/window change anything?

Yes, browsing in a private tab does load better. A few images show broken but i can click them to view fullscreen.

While we’re fixing this, might as well fix the missing images from the previous weekend challenges :wink:

My guess is that the site uses multiple servers. Updating the main one should cause the mirrors to be updated as well. I guess this has been a little unreliable lately. if I lookup the site, the IP that I get is 104.27.177.179, which is in San Francisco.

104.27.177.179 seems to be a cloudflare IP. I’m not sure how/where blenderartists.org is actually hosted.

If I understand this correctly, this is only affecting some of the thumbnail images.

E.g. OLG Spaceship Earth:

What happens if you try to open this one directly? 404?

I guess we would require some magic in order to fix that. But who knows, maybe we will find a way someday? :slight_smile:

It depends on where you are, so this seems to be some kind of CDN issue, indeed.
@bartv: Is there anything you can do about this?

Can this be done automatically or do you have to do it by hand? Maybe we can update all of the voting thumbs?

This image no longer exists on the file system I’m afraid. So some parts of the CDN still have it, but it’s a matter of time before they disappear. I’m still waiting for news from the Discourse team on how to force a regeneration of these thumbnails :frowning_face:

Could we copy the ones from the CDN back to the file system?
If that isn’t possible, I could probably replace the thumbnails above by images hosted somewhere else, later tonight. (Until the Discourse team comes back with a solution.)

I just got a response and am running a job to regenerate them. Given the amount of data that may take a while :slight_smile:

Please reload the page and try again. Things may be a bit slow as the CDN is repopulating, but I think the images should be back now.
