The lancer: hero’s shadow
Vashta Nerada were way too hard to do, so I made this instead.
“the lancer” is a common character type/storytelling trope, a character who’s main reason to exist is to serve as the protagonist’s right hand, and question their decisions.
This is my place holder. IDK if I’m going to get the time I need to make this look how I want but I hope I do
The inspiration for this was the huntsman that lived in my house for a while. Had to move her outside after she chased me down the hallway.
I have been working on a procedural planet generator (my third one). I haven’t decided on what exactly I will do with it relating to the theme, but will definitely be space-related.
There are a lot of nodes (each node group inside here are a bunch more nodes):
To anyone having Lighting/Shadow issues:
I work with blender for like five years and never tried it. turns out to be awesome.
@SHADOWSTORM we used to do that to simulate electron microscopy.
@SHADOWSTORM I took the hint and updated my lighting.
“In the Shadow of the Machine”
Wish I could have worked more on this one but didn’t have time this weekend. I had much bigger plans for it starting out.
Pure (using freely available textures), Cycles.
I can see now that eyes glowing in the dark as well as monster-spider-thingy have already been shown here but these are kind of obvious ones for the theme
@Helge - super fun entry
“it’s only a huntsman”
Pure cycles, 1000 samples @ 1920 x 1080
Now I have a mostly finished rigged spider, still could use some added details
A Dim Light of Hope
Pure entry. Everything made in Blender, only procedural textures. The character was traced from a photo.
Pure entry, everything is modelled by myself. Textures are from https://cc0textures.com/
and https://www.textures.com/ the backround is a random night sky photo from google search.
I used the cloth brush extensively on this. Great to make some sci fi padded walls.
The tracing technique is one I always use in these challenges for lack of time! It’s very helpful to add in a quick figure
