I totally missed that detail, it was an amazing idea but it came out too subtle in the final render to notice. I think the image could have used a better framing into the reflections and more contrast with the lighting.
First, I didn’t notice the reflections and wondered why valoisa chose such a strange constellation, since the king could easily take all the pawns. Thinking about this suspicious activity, I saw the reflections which checkmate the king. After that, the case was closed for me
I agree. It is a bit dark, too. The reflections are probably a detail the brain does not care about in the first place, and thus, it is quickly overlooked, although the reflections are actually quite large and clear. As a creator of such a picture, I guess one thinks the idea is self-evident, but that is probably only because one already knows about it
The answer is yes to both ways. There are probably other ways to complete the render as well.
Object properties > Visibility > camera
I used the way OLG mentioned, but not only excluded Camera but also Diffuse
And thank you all for the suggestions
LOVE these mice!
