The winner picks the theme for next week.

If the winner doesn’t supply a theme before Thursday 22:30 GMT, the organizer will select the theme. In this case, the winner’s theme will be used the next time we are lacking a theme on Thursday 22:30 GMT.

Having selected the theme, the winner will not be eligible to enter that week. They may however still submit an image, but it won’t be included in the voting.

That’s a lot of entries…

Perhaps for this competition. The old Internet Raytracing Competition would get between 40 and 150 entries, but it went for 2 month stretches. Voting was an intensive process.

Good old PovRay

It’s fun when you read through the old comments on the development of the pictures. When render times were often given in days or tens of hours and what software was used to create the images, which is now often forgotten.

But as you said: IRTC had a bi-monthly rhythm when submitting and can therefore hardly be compared with a weekend challenge.

Some of my all-time classic favorites come from the IRTChallenge.
