I have a model (obj) exported from a different modeler (Max) which I import in Blender. This model has a few meshes to be used as shape keys in. This is a bit of a Max approach to mesh morphing but I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to copy the mesh data to the original mesh so it’s used as a shape key?
In theory I could just copy paste the vertex data but I don’t know of a way to accomplish that. If anybody could shred a light here? The model is downloadable here if you want to know what I mean:
Use the Join as Shapes option in the Shape Keys panel. Note that you will have to correct their origin positions on the models so they are the same for each object.

Models must apparently also have the vertex order in addition to matching vertex counts. That limits this option pretty severely from what I can see, unless there’s some kind of workaround.
Ofcourse, It’s pretty hard to do these shaping things with those not exactly the same. For me this option was perfect since the model was imported from a different application and was prepared to do exactly this. It’s like that in all software suits.
