change bright and contrast of a texture

I have a question:

Can I modify the brighness and the contrast of a UV texture applicated to an object using python? :confused:

I would use ipo animations of the lamp’s brightness and the objects rgb values and manipulated them with an “Ipo” actuator set to “property” and then change the “property” however I choose.
If you do not know how to animate the rgb values, here is a video tutorial on u-tube about it.

I know this is not an answer, but I hope it helps until someone else can answer better.
