I was modeling a paintbrush, and its bristles were created with Hair Particles (which I’m new to).
I had three Materials for the Object: (1) one for the handle, (2) then the metallic clamp, and then (3) a brown material for the brush. I created each of the Materials in that same sequence.
I created the Hair Particles last, and I assigned that brown Material to the Faces that were the Hair Particle’s Emitter, assuming that this would give the Hair Particles that same color. However, the resulting “bristles” always had the first Material created for the Object: the Material for the paintbrush’s handle, not the brown material I wanted them to have.
To finally “solve” this, I had to ultimately delete the first two Materials so that the brown one was the only one left, and then re-apply the other two Materials, but so now they were in the bottom two slots. So it was kind of an annoying work-around.
So my question is: do Hair Particles always have to take the Material in the top slot of the Object? After you’ve created the Hair Particles, is there a way of applying a different Material to it?
Thanks as always.
