Changing axis direction of armature and mesh

I have made the main character of my latest game the wrong way round. So she is facing in the direction of the -Y axis. As a result when I use the track to actuator she goes in the wrong direction. :frowning:
I can rotate the armature around in edit mode. But that doesn’t seem to fix the track to problem. Also the mesh is manipulated in a strange way. If I try and rotate the mesh in edit mode as well then vey strange things happen.

So what would be the correct proceedure for changing the axis of a character?
