Changing the orientation of a view ?

Hi all,

This is probably another simple (read: stupid) question
on the editor, but I’ve again checked the knowledge base
and can’t find a reference.

I’ve downloaded a .blend file and the orientation of the
views is different to the default.

eg. Front view (Keypad 1) is mapped to the X-Z axis,
instead of X-Y and top view is mapped to the X-Y axis,
instead of X-Z…

How can I change them back ?

regards,
M@T

AFAIK, Front view has always been associated with X-Z, Side view with Y-Z and Top view with X-Y.

And I don’t think there’s a way to change it.

OK. Momentary lapse of reason [!]

You know when you have one of those days where you say a
word like “tomato” and suddenly you cannot convince yourself
that someone actually decided to call this juicy red fruit a
tomato ? No matter how many times you say it, the word just
sounds wrong?

I had one of those days yesterday… my apologies to the list

cheers,
Matt.

Okay, I’m a noob, but why did Blender set the axis this way? Perhaps knowing the reasoning behind the decision will help me adjust.

Nothing else in life is set up this way. My math classes always taught me to chart things using x (horizontal), y (verticle).

It’s been a while since I have used a 3D program, but I don’t recall others being set up like this. I guess I can accept it, but it will take some getting use to.
