Character: Baitong

Hello, here’s my latest work. I plan for full body model but this is what i’ve done so far…

And this is the begining…
I start model in Wings, use reference from Thai’s teenage actress name ‘Kanungnij Chakkrasamithanonda’. Baitong is the name she use in a movie she did. Although my model just end up as someone else already (and look alot older -_-’), i still using that name anyway :slight_smile:

Import to Blender via wavefront obj format and tweak some… (chin, lips, etc…)

UV unwrap with LSCM.
I later found that i tweak the face area too small so i can’t paint high detail on the eyes and lips even using 2048x2048 texture -_-’

I use hair strand for eyebrow, and encounter some issue when render with long shot and close-up shot.
The strand setting that look ok in long shot will looks too thin in close-up shot. And strand setting that look ok in close-up
turn out too thick in long shot. I have no solution for this issue, rightnow i have to tweak strand setting to match the camera location.

I just found node editor yesterday and fooling around trying to make fake SSS material. And this’s what i’ve got. I expect better result but i think it’s a little better than nomal material above, and now i can change her lips’s color and glossiness easily :slight_smile: (previously i have to change diffuse and spec map for doing that…)

My next progress is doing hair, but i haven’t decided the hair style yet. Just looking for hair style that match her face and make her look little younger :slight_smile:

No seriously Hellvy that’s really nice work. Those eyes look funky, but alright. How did you make them?

Thanks for sharing the strand settings, I got to try that soon. Can’t wait to see how the hair comes out.

And this is the hair in early state… using simple map on polygons. Need work on alpha map and some variant.
I’ve tried static particle and hair strand with no success… It’s hard to control the hair syle (even the easy one like this), resource hog, and… hornestly, i haven’t seen any good looking long hair with hair strand so far. It’s ok for short hair -: animal fur or male haircut just like in ED (it still doesn’t look good enough to me though -_-’)… so i go with this approach for now.

And this is my little progress …
I split the hair in 2 parts, the main and ponytail. Adjust flow of the hair to look more natural, add alpha map on the rim of the main part.
Need work on hairline and polytail part…
