Character motion???

In the motion actuator there is a character motion option. Every time i try it out, the system console tells me “character motion enabled on non-character object <name of object> falling back to simple motion”. So i guess my question is how do i turn my “non-character object” into a “character object”? :confused:

The object needs to be using the Character physics type.
