Been working on the main character’s pet lately - almost finished as far as modeling goes.
Recent updates at the end of the thread!

Looks good, although I hope you only plan to have it waddling, 'cause it won’t be able to do any more than that!!
The project seems to be shaping up nicely, good steady progress.
It will waddle, bounce and flex like nothing else…
llooks good, but very static at the moment… everything should look a bit more like its hanging around…

nice overall… legs could look more interesting…
.b
Nice!
I agree with basse about the legs. As they are right now, the feet would not even be able tomove. Needs a joint in there somewhere.

BgDM & basse —> Yup. The legs will get some more attention, particularly the front ones. And I shall give him his claws too.
Kaktuswasse —> OK. Some more “baggy” skin strategically placed, perhaps? Much of the static feel right now is probably because I want to keep it a bit “stiff” to facilitate the final modeling, UV-unwrapping and rigging. Will hopefully appear more alive once I can pose it properly (after rigging).
I agree with everyone on the legs. But other than that it’s all so groovies!!!
But I say when you are going to dispose of him, that you put like a grenade or something in his food bowl and let the rest tell itself! LoL yeah!
heh… no, it’s a bit more complicated than that. It’s already defined in the storyboard. No details to reveal now though, you’ll have to wait until the grand opening… Like in may 2004 or so…
good job, looks simple tho, some blue or green fur would look nice…yea, that would rock.
Been tweaking the legs and face a bit. Made a quick Blender render::…
better, but still looks too static for me… dont have an idea why tho
Maybe u just need some testures.

Kaktus—> I’m sure the texturing and posing will most likely do it for ya. But it’s good input. It doesn’t show very well in the above render, but I added some “stretched skin” from the rear thigh towards mid-body, and from the backside of the front thigh as well after your previous comment. And it made quite a difference.
I’m still not happy about the front legs, but I know why now, so I’ll fix them later today. And I need to fiddle a bit with its chest too.
A zoologist has also informed me that this is an aardvark-dachshund-armadillo. So now you know.
Legs look lot better now, but front legs need little tweaking and neck too IMHO
Actually it looks less deatiled from neck to frontlegs when compaired rest of model.
Anyway i like it. Is it nice or is it hiding darkside :<
This is probably the final update as far as geometry goes. Further detailing will be made texturewise…
Front legs look much better now. Great update.
For the size/weight look of this thing, I would think that the gut would be sagging more towards the ground.
Can’t waitt o see some textures on this.

PS: I have finally statrted to get the hang of using Wings. I can’t seem to open the VRML 2.0 file in Blender though. Any suggestions, as you seem to not have any problems.
Sure. Two things only::…
Make sure there are no n-gons in Wings (quads or tris only)
Open the VRML-file in Blender 2.23. That works perfectly, and if you have different materials assigned to different faces, these will separate into individual objects on import in Blender. Perfect. This way you will not get any problems related to material indices. If you’re using another version of Blender for “production”, just save the darn thing and reopen in your preferred version.
And thanx for your input about the pet. Will see about that sagging issue… it’s a valid point.
Yeah, I found this out in the Q&A Forum. What a pain. But hey, I guess we can’t complain too much when we get this great Blender app for free, eh?
Thanks for the info.

I just uploaded a step-by-step “making of”-page here::…

Not exactly a tutorial, but maybe you will find it useful…
great, very nice ¿armadillo dog? i’d say as an animal it will have a hard time moving with it’s belly reaching so low and such short feet, except from that it’s great
