Character UV unwrapping

I would like to know -

  1. Where to mark the seems for UV in a low poly character. I mean what to think when marking seems?
  2. When should we use project from view and unwrap? How should a lowpoly character be treated? (under 3000 polys)
  3. What is a normal procedure - bake ambient occlusion first then do texture painting on it or first texture paint then bake ambient after ?

There are many Tutorials on Modeling but very less video tutorial on texturing / unwrapping a character. Can any one make one?

Also any tutorial on how to apply baked normal mapping of high res mesh to its lower version
