Some of you have been following the progress of this in WIP and I thank you for your comments, crits and advice.
With that being said, my comp is dying trying to get this to where I want it to be and thus, I have to call this one finished, for now.
It is indeed, not perfect, not my best work. I will fully admit to that. But again, it is just killing my computer on render times and the texture maps are so slow to work on in PS now, that I can’t improve it anymore.
So why is this killing your comp? Is it so extreme high poly?
Anyway, the model rocks, but as you might know the colour- and bumpmap aren’t quite there yet. And some specularity would’ve been nice, especially around the moutharea. With a mouth like that you’d expect him to drool all over the place.
Sago: Yeah, the poly count is killing it, as well as the texture map sizes and layer amounts in the PSD files. You are 100% correct about the spec, etc. But again, it just isn’t going to get there at this point and time.
RobertT: Thanks. And yeah, sitting around waiting for 5-10 minutes for a Gaussian Blur in PS is not a fun time.
His eyes are twisted with the rest of his faces(you can see something that looks like eyes at the sides of the twist)!
And for bgdm: Nice modelling!!! Making the textures for such a complex thing + 5-10 minutes waiting in paintshop pro for gaussian blur + rendering time for something like this, I agree, that’s to sick! I think it looks great and I love the lighting!
Followed the WIP thread and it turned out great. I think you should try to render it with SSS, the skin would look great. (if the render won’t take a month)
