This is my eleventh animation of a chess game.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
I don’t like the lighting. I had a hard time with animating rigid bodies. Especially, key framing them was hard.
@sozap I tried different camera angles. I hope it looks better. Thanks again.
@Erik.3D I messed around with the lighting. I did watch Guru’s tutorial on it. I still need some work. Thanks again.
@treefibet I didn’t mess too much with bevel. I might try it next time. The autosmooth did not make much of a difference, but that is probably because I wasn’t using it correctly. Your suggestions were great. Life is just hard being a noob.
Read more books!
Thanks!
Hahaha well done ! It’s getting better !
My few advice for the next one :
For now the time you cut the shot can feel a bit random, but it works !
You can think of each shot like a sentence describing an action.
So each shot got one use : One for the title, one for showing the set, one for the first action ect…
Of course, you can have more than one action in a shot, but for each shot think about what it’s supposed to describe and how to emphasis that with framing and some little camera moves if needed.
Here are a sequence and how to cut it into shots :
-on a bright sunny day : wide shot of a neighborhood
-Eric was happily going for a walk : wide shot of the street, Eric enter the frame , the camera start to follow him.
-When he heard a voice calling his name : close up shot on the face of Eric, we see that he is happy, then he heard a voice off screen , then he turn his head.
-That’s Jenny , an old friend of him : wide / medium shot, the camera is behind Eric , we see Jenny in the other corner of the screen.
Hopes that helps , but all that said, I think it’s much better than the previous one, the rendering is better too ! Keep on improving ! Well done !
Thanks for your advice.
For my next animation, I will try to break it off into groups.
First, setup
Second, threats and weaknesses
Third, opportunities and strengths
Fourth, execution of the solution.
I really like the idea that the game should tell a story.
Thanks for the encouragement.
Take care!
Cool !
Yes movie/animation is visual storytelling after all !
Well done, even if I liked some flaws in the other one , you’re getting closer to a more professional look !
Well done and good luck for the next one !
Thank you! I really appreciate your encouragement.
