Hello everybody,
after many years I played chess on a old chess board again. I got the idea to make some renders in 3D - this is nothing new and there are a lot of renders out there, but thought why not.
Of course I wanted to get as realistic as possible. So I took photos of the chesspieces to have a good reference for modeling. I also got an chess clock from my brother as reference.
I used HDRI from HDRI Haven as a background and also lighting. The images are rendered with Cycles.
Amazing. I am very jealous of your skills. I want to make a chess set as well.

I love the paint-brush-edged transitions between rendered/clay/wireframe, I see that kind of diagonal split all the time on here but this is the first time I’ve seen it done so artistically. I really love that! I also love the renders themselves, they’re incredible
