There’s one thing that I think could use some improvement though… the crosses on the king and queen seem too detailed/small for the style of the pieces. All the other pieces look like they could actually be made out of glass pretty easily by someone who knew what they were doing, but the crosses look like they would have been made by some different technique.
Obviously that’s being really picky. It looks great.
Oops… I forgot that a black square should always be in the lower left corner. Anyway, I fixed it.:o
I’m still not very happy with the wood, but nothing I do seems to make it better. Oh, well…
Needs better texture for the wooden frame, but that’s about the only crit I can come up with.
Except for the wood, it looks pretty cool! Nice work Lord of the Rings junkie :). Wood is one of the materials difficult to do with procedural textures. It can be done using some of the wood procedurals and mess around with it, I’ve seen a nice render with procedural wood one day, rendered with Yafray I remember. But most of the time, it’s best to use a texture from the internet. I’d modify that material before calling this one done for otherwise it would be nice in stead of really nice :).
