Chreating a UV map from a mesh model...

Was not sure how to title this (yes I an a noob). Is there a way to take a mesh that is has material and texture procedurals and create an unwrapped UV of the material surface so I can then modify the existing UV maps and put it back on the model… Example - I have a human mesh that I have used Materials and Textures to create a passable render. What I want to do is unwrap the rendered surface as a UV then make changes in an outside art app and then bring back in the UV map and re-wrap the mesh using UV mapping.

Select edges as seams, then ctrl-E mark as seams. Then open a UV image editor, and press U with your cursor in the 3D view and unwrap your mesh. If you want the procedural textures you already have to become an unwrapped image, you can bake it to an image (look for a tutorial on baking AO, it’s pretty similar).
