Chris Lynch Script - Import groups?

When I import a model using Chris Lynch’s OBJ import/export script, it doesn’t import the object groups…is there any way to do this? I’m trying to create clothing for Poser, and I need these groups to be seperated and really have no idea how I could do this efficiently by manually selecting vertices on my own…

I noticed that OBJs I import are importing the material groups (as identified in the obj by mtl), so I can select by those. However, it doesn’t import the object groups (as identified in the obj with g), which I need to be able to select by…

Bumping, really hoping for some help with this please…

Okay, I’m feeling sorry for you

I really don’t know whether it does support vert groups or not, but I know that the last upgrade, apart from getting it to work with the new 2.28 python module, also had some improvements to UV capability. Reasonably I don’t think you can expect of it to export vertex deformation groups (groups that are not defined by material or UV indexii) singe it is a generic exporter. Maybe Poser was one of the target apps, but maybe it wasn’t. Who knows? If there is an exporter that handles def. groups de facto, I havn’t seen it discussed.

PM or email Chris, Scorpius or jms for more definite response.

I know there was some emphasis on there for Poser…exporting isn’t the problem, importing is. When I import an obj with several groups, I can’t do anything with those groups in Blender (like select by them)…I guess it would be the same whether I was using Poser or not, it’s the Wavefront OBJ way of doing it…

However, since the importer DOES appear to bring in material groups, I can always assign the OBJ groups to materials in UVMapper and then select by those in Blender…

Thanks Fligh %!
