Chrome on toaster

I’m new to blender and I’ve been trying to get a shiny chrome/metal material on a toaster… much like this one

But I can’t seem to get an env map or ray tracing to work. I’ve tried the chrome tutorial at the site but it seems to be outdated for the new blender version.

Here is the toaster, with stuff all messed up :stuck_out_tongue:

i will take a look at it.

okay, you need to turn on raytracing, get rid of envmap, not much use for those in this kind of scene, fix the materials, it should be hard and high spec, think about it, a toaster is hard, and is shiny. If you don’t know what the settings mean read a book, really, go to your library and find one.
here is the updated version. Also, planes are easier to use than cubes, and make sure your lamps are set to ray shadow.

Check that out.

Thanks, do you know of a way to make the same chrome effect without the world effecting it?

Thanks a lot…

here’s the final result… with apples and stuff…

The shadows look unrealistic… You should not use raytraced shadows because they are slow, especially when you turn on sampling.

Use a usual shadowbuffer spot, and several omnis for the ambient light.

looks good, try softening the shadows, I guess raybuffers would look nice.

What are raybuffers?
